Cumberland Island was the 19th century retreat of Thomas Carnegie and his wife Lucy, who in 1901, built Greyfield as a wedding gift for their daughter, Margaret Ricketson. Converted to an inn during 1962 by their daughter, Lucy Ferguson, and family - who oversee the daily operation - Greyfield Inn exudes the welcoming atmosphere and charm of a family home. This white mansion of gracious elegance retains the original family furnishings from the turn of the century alongside the added luxury of contemporary amenities. Many of the furnishings are treasured heirlooms, and family portraits and photographs adorn the walls. Guests can relax in the baronial living room with fireplace, in the cozy bar, well-stocked library, on the large welcoming porch, and of course, in the exquisite bedrooms with fabulous views.
